Hobart Paving started trading in 1983, set up by founding directors Peter Milton and Danny O’Sullivan in offices in South Croydon. Coming from the surfacing and highways maintenance backgrounds of Allmacadams Civil Engineering Contractors, they developed the business with local London Boroughs, through term maintenance contracts building a reputation for quality, fairness and reliability. The business expanded into Sussex and Surrey, again through term contracts and site-specific projects, taking on more staff throughout the south. Danny’s specialist tarmac knowledge complimenting Peters practical engineering skills enabled the Company to provide a comprehensive service which continues to this day.

The Company has long term stability in a highly skilled workforce, most of whom have been working for the Company for over ten years. The retirement of the founding directors saw the Company become a trading division of parent company CJ Thorne, who acquired majority shares in 2007 and who now provide the support and behind the scenes backup of large and experienced Civil Engineering contractor.

A move to new offices and yard in Faygate, near Horsham in 2011 allowed for an expansion in staff and plant to meet the ever-increasing workload. Turnover grew along with a diverse range of clients, covering local authorities, schools and colleges, private individuals and commercial developers

The core business of Hobart Paving remains as surfacing and paving, highways and infrastructure construction services to local authorities throughout the south east of England. The Company has successfully completed many pedestrianisation schemes, highways improvements, drainage and civils contracts, managing client and public expectations for quality and value for money.
