Subcontracted to a major house builder, Hobart Paving were awarded the groundwork and infrastructure development for a site in Ewell. Road improvements, drainage and retaining walls were built to allow the estate access roads and site works to be constructed by the Developer.

300m of new foul sewer was installed by directional drilling, avoiding the need to excavate trenches across the busy A24. The team built the reinforced concrete retaining walls and carried out the earthworks in advance of the site being position.

Hobart Paving undertook the paving and hard landscaping on the Reaches development funded by the Environment Agency and carried out by main contractor Volkers.

Our work was to follow behind the piling and sea defence operations providing new paving and resin surfacing to form the new esplanade. The paths were formed with imported granular fill, laid and compacted to provide a firm base behind the new sea wall. New granite kerbing and setts formed planning areas which we filled with soil ready for planning. The carriageway accessing the pier was milled by 1m road planer and resurfaced in stone mastic asphalt. Street furniture and signage completed the project.

Description

Groundworks for new warehouse being built in Manor Royal Crawley. Construction of the foundations and drainage connections in advance of the steel frame building erection. Excavated for new concrete pad foundations for each column positioning holding down bolts to a high degree of accuracy prior to placing the structural concrete. Reinforced concrete bays were poured forming the new warehouse floor. Excavated for and installed all the drainage connections for the toilets and rainwater pipes in advance of the building works.

Description

Redhill Hospital carried out the construction of a new Accident and Emergency facility at East Surrey Hospital and appointed Hobart Paving to carry out the ground works and external paving. Outside the live A&E we broke out the parking area for ambulances, ensuring that there was always access and resurfaced the carriageway and formed new resin bound footways. We constructed new pad foundations for a canopy over the walkway and reconfigured the drainage channels installing a new slot drain along the edge of the path. Our works also consisted of building the foundations for the extension to the A&E and running services and new drainage in trenches excavated through the adjacent parking.

In advance of opening a new branch in Croydon, the groundwork and concrete yard contract was let to Hobart Paving. On a very tight programme we broke out and disposed of the existing concrete hardstand and installed the new storm and foul drainage systems. 18t excavators fitted with hydraulic breakers broke up and removed the old concrete yard, working in phases to maintain access for the refurbishment of the existing warehouse. The drainage below the warehouse floor was also up graded, diamond saw cutting and removing the slab inside the building so that the pipes could be replaced. Externally, new drainage channels were laid directing storm water into attenuation tanks before outfalling of site.

New pavement quality concrete was laid in bays forming the new yard and outside storage areas. Concrete was pumped in and hand finished with vibrating tamps and wire brush to form an anti-slip surface.

Description

Hobart Paving Company undertook the civils and groundworks for the construction of a new warehouse in Crawley. After the demolition of the existing buildings, we cleared the site and constructed the pad foundations ready for the steel frame building. New foul and storm drainage was installed linked into the existing systems to service the warehouse and three floor office block at the front of the site.

We provided a new power float floor and co-ordinated with the build contractors to install roofing and cladding to the warehouse.

Externally, we machine laid new surfacing to the car parking and access road, installed kerbing and fencing to the perimeters and finished the job with line marking to the parking bays.

Gatwick Diamond Development Drainage

Description

Willmott Dixon appointed as the main contractor to develop a large parcel of land on the Manor Royal Industrial Estate for the building of a prestigious office block. Hobart Paving Company carried out the drainage connections for the highway surface water gullies into the existing system via backdrop manholes.

Our qualified confined spaces drainage gang working at a depth of 2½m, broke into the base of the manhole and formed the backdrop in VC pipework and reformed the granolithic benching. Other work on the site consisted of running connections to and forming the road gullies in the bellmouth, constructing precast concrete catchpits and kerb inlet Beany drains.
